Riverside Regional Library

Public Relations:

  • In February Lynn Farrow and Ginny Robert represented Riverside at MLA Advocacy Day, a one-day session in Jefferson City to learn about any legislation relating to public libraries and to meet our representatives at the Capitol.

     

  • Glass display case at Scott County Court House is decorated yearly by the Scott County branch librarians to promote use of the library.

  • Riverside’s traditional magnetic calendars were again distributed to our patrons.

  • Library Director, Nancy Howland, attended a ceremony at the Noon Optimist Club this month.  They presented Riverside Library @ Jackson a donation of $200 to be used for children’s literacy.

  • Children's Librarian, Lynn Farrow, sat on the YELL Foundation Board which works closely with the area School Librarians Association. The group sponsored author visits to area schools and libraries in the fall.

  • Scott County Health unit used Benton library's meeting room as an outreach center to give shots.

  • RRL Christmas display in Jackson City Park in December.

  • Tabletop display of Riverside Libraries at Montgomery Bank in Jackson during September’s Library Card Sign-Up Month.  Included a free drawing for a set of five books. 

  • Tech Services Assistant Supervisor, Roberta Brown, presented a program in  September to the Alpha Mu Master Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi sorority in Jackson.  She talked about the library and our Book Discussion Group, and distributed copies of CURRENTS, library brochures, pen or pencils, and bookmarks.

  • In October, Children’s Librarian, Lynn Farrow, attended the Area on Aging Conference in Jackson that focused on grandparents as parents.  She distributed information to about 70 people that advertised the library as a strong community outlet.   Also in October, Children’s Librarian, Lynn Farrow, attended the Lights Out Carnival at Oak Ridge. 

  • An ad for all branches was placed again in the Village Profile magazine distributed by the Jackson Chamber of Commerce to all newcomers and available at areas around town.

  • In November, Perryville Branch Manager, Julie Sauer, spoke about the library and its services at the Parents/Teachers meeting at Oak Ridge School.
