Other Events:

 

  • Central library volunteer, Donna Pensel, was honored at the annual Jackson Chamber of Commerce Non-Profit Alliance Volunteer Recognition Luncheon at the University Extension Center in Jackson.

  • Riverside continued reciprocal agreement with Sikeston Public Library at $15,000 per year.

  • AARP volunteers offered free tax help service at Central and Benton in March.

  • Christmas Party for Board members, staff, and their guests on December 7 in Cape Girardeau.

  • Rotating video deposit collections to the branches ended as all of the branch libraries now have their own permanent AV collections.

  • Author visit by Ruth Irene Garrett who spoke about growing up in an Amish farming community in Iowa and the books she has authored about the experience.  July 25 at Jackson; July 26 at Perryville; July 27 at Oran.

  • Altenburg Branch—Landlord made the restroom and front sidewalk handicap accessible.

  • Altenburg Branch Manager, Kathy Schlimpert, did several very popular paper-cutting workshops at her library and at Central. 

  • Perryville Branch created their own Teen Space for young adults with games, cards,  comic books, and a homework area.
