Sample of Gifts & Donations 2009:

  • TG Missouri donated $2,000 to the Perryville Branch.
  •  

  • Perryville Mayor Gahan contacted Julie about keeping plans and supplemental materials for Sycamore Village Apartments, Plan Review on file at the library to allow any local contractors or material suppliers who might be interested in submitting bids to look at the materials. The company supplying the blueprints generously sent the Perryville Library a $200 donation for doing this.
  •  

  • The Lutheran Laymen's League has again donated 3 DVD's to the Altenburg collection.
  •  

  • Sam’ Club in Cape Girardeau gave us a generous donation of sports baskets that we gave away as prize drawings during Summer Reading Club at all the branches.
  •  

  • The Perry County Community Task Force donated several books and DVD's on Teen and Adolescent depression to the Perryville Branch.
  •  

  • Copies of colored pencil drawings by Betty Williams were donated to the Scott City Branch by Lillian Hess.  Some have been framed and are displayed on the shelf end panels.
  •  

  • Burger King, McDonald’s, Pizza Hut, Wal-Mart, Wehrenberg Theatres and others were very generous with their donations of reading incentives for the Summer Reading Club.
  •  

  • Save-A-Lot, County Mart and Sweetheart Florist donated cookies and balloons to Jackson’s Grand Opening in July.
  •  

  • Altenburg received a $200 donation from the Lion's Club once again to be used for the summer reading program and some new things for the children's section.
  •  

  • The Perryville Wal-Mart donated a $100 gift certificate to fund our "Be Creative with Food!" summer reading club program in Perryville which was attended by 155 people.
  •  

  • The Perryville Rotary Club donated a computer, scanner and color printer to the Perryville library.
  •  

  • Joann Hahs, Donna Pensel and Donna Freeman (the “Story
  • time Tale Ladies”) donated their time to present a storytime with puppets.

     

  • Lamplighter’s FCE presented Jackson with Max Lucado’s Children’s Treasury book on October 8.  Marilyn Retherford and the FCE Group of Oak Ridge donate a book to the children’s corner every year.
  •  

  • The Mike Vogel family donated $500 to the Perryville Branch in December.
  •  

  • The John Gahan family donated $250 to the Perryville Branch in December.
  •  

  • Many thoughtful patrons donated funds to purchase books in memory or in honor of their friends and loved ones.  Our sincerest appreciation to these lovely people. 
  • Patrons have contributed to the library’s funds by being faithful customers of our on-going book sales.
  •  

  • Area businesses, organizations, and individuals donated cash, prizes or time to our Summer Reading Club. A $40 gift card donation was received from Wal-Mart to help provide incentives for reading at the Scott City Branch. 
  •  

  • Scott City received a $50 donation from the Kiwanis Club to be used to buy prizes for Summer Reading Club in Scott City.
  •  

  • The Friends of the Library groups at Perryville, Jackson, Oran, Scott City, and Benton donated so much—time, money, programs--to these libraries!
  •  

  • Several loyal patrons donate magazine subscriptions every year.
  •  

    Please note:  This is just a sampling of the types of donations Riverside receives each year.  We are grateful to all our many generous patrons who donate money, books, magazines, newspapers, audios, videos, and their time to our libraries.
