Riverside Regional Library

Some Gifts & Donations:

  • Cape Girardeau County’s Lamplighter’s FCE Club donated a $500 HEED Grant they received, plus $600 the Club added to that grant, to give $1,100 worth of Easy Reader books for Central’s children’s collection.

  • Barnes & Noble Book Store in Cape donated approximately $100,000 worth of shelving to Central in November from the store they closed down before moving into their new store in the mall.

  • TG Missouri donated $3,000 to the Perryville Branch.

  • The Perryville newspaper donated 4 books for the Book Buzz Reading program. 

  • The Sunny Village Garden Club donated the book How Does Your Garden Grow to the Scott City Branch.

  • American Family Insurance Co. has donated 10 magazines to the Perryville Branch.

  • Scott County Central School, donated two van loads of books to Riverside.

  • New microfilm reader-printer donated to Perryville Branch by Perry County Historical Society.

  • Many thoughtful patrons donated funds to purchase books in memory or in honor of their friends and loved ones.  Our sincerest appreciation to these lovely people. 

  • Patrons have contributed to the library’s funds by being faithful customers of our on-going book sales at Central, Perryville, Benton, and Scott City libraries.

  • Some of the area businesses, organizations, and individuals who donated cash, prizes or time to our Summer Reading Club.  In Altenburg: Altenburg Hardwood Company, the Brazeau Extension Club, the Altenburg Extension Club,  East Perry Lumber Company.  In Benton: Agriculture Womens Club of Benton, Dr. Shivley who donated his time to do a program.   In Scott City: Wal-Mart, The Ice Cream Corner; Teresa Mirgeaux who donated her time to do a program for the kids,  USDA Rural Development.  In Jackson:  Burger King, McDonald’s, Jackson Tire, Walmart, Cracker Barrel.  In Perryville:  the Perry Park Center let us use the theater at no cost.

  • Technology and Networking of Scott City donated a year's subscription for eight magazines to Scott City Branch.

  • The Cape Saturn car dealership in cooperation with the National Education Association donated Cat in the Hat posters for each library. 

  • Wal-Mart in Cape, Jackson, and Perryville for donating prizes for our June is Audio Book Month drawing.

  • Mike and Ryan Brock of Scott City temporarily loaned their collection of southeast Missouri fossils for the glass display case at the Scott City Branch.

  • Joel Evans donated three dozen Scott County mousepads to the Benton Branch.

  • A Scott City patron donated $100 to purchase DVDs for the Scott City Branch.

  • Jackson Noon Optimist Club donated $200 to Central to purchase children’s books.

  • A patron of the Oran Branch has donated plants and landscaping there for several years, making the yard beautiful.

  • Several loyal patrons at some of the branches donate magazine subscriptions every year.

  • This is just a sampling of the types of donations Riverside receives each year.  We are grateful to our many generous patrons who donate money, books, magazines, newspapers, audios, videos, and their time to our libraries.
