Riverside Regional Library
Conduct of Patrons
 

Riverside Regional Library is a public institution dedicated to serving patrons whose purposes are to read, study, obtain information and benefit from programs presented at the library.  In order to maintain an appropriate environment for these purposes, the Library Director and Board of Trustees of Riverside Regional Library asks those using the library to comply with the following rules:

1.         Loitering in the library building or on its grounds is prohibited.

2.         Shoes and shirts are required; bathing suits are prohibited in the building unless they are dry and covered with appropriate attire.

3.         Food is prohibited in public areas of the building; drinks may be allowed at the discretion of the librarian.  Food and drink are prohibited around computers.

4.        Tobacco products, alcohol, and weapons (concealed or otherwise) are prohibited in the library building.

5.          Roller skates, skateboards, and roller blades are prohibited in the library building.

6.          Soliciting in the library building or on its grounds is prohibited.

7.         Congregating for any purpose, other than use of library resources or for authorized meetings, is prohibited.

8.          Disruptive or abusive language is prohibited.

9.          Library staff may request to see a patron’s identification as necessary.

10.       Damaging, defacing, misusing, or removing without authorization, library resources,  equipment or facilities is prohibited.

11.      No patron may interfere with another person’s use of the library or with library personnel’s performance of her/his duties.

12.       Patrons with children accompanying them in the library building and on its grounds are responsible for the supervision of those children.

13.        A patron guilty of flagrant or serious violation of any of the aforementioned rules may be asked to leave the library and/or have his/her library card suspended or revoked.

14.        Animals, except handicapped patrons’ guide animals, are prohibited in the library.

15.        Library personnel are authorized to call the police should it become necessary to enforce any of these rules.

16.       Cell phone use is prohibited in the library building.
